DKA’s Unique Konknni Readership Drive
Inorder to increase the Konknni readership, and simultaneously to instill in the youth the love of Konknni Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) recently organized Konknni story reading competition in Birondem, Valpoi. Altogether 17 youth participated in the story reading competition with great zeal and enthusiasm.
“The writers of Konknni in Romi script were requesting Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) to increase the readership of Konknni in Romi script, but nobody was suggesting how to go about. At this juncture, Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) chalked out a special programme in view of increasing the readership of Konknni in Romi script among the youth. DKA came out with an idea of organizing story telling competition for the youth in villages. The story books are provided by DKA to the participants, and they have to read the whole book, out of which they are told to read any one story at the competition spot,” explained Mr. Premanand A. Lotlikar, President of DKA in his speech during the inaugural function. The story telling competition held in Birondem is the first one of this kind.
Mr. Lotlikar also said that DKA has toyed the idea of holding story competition in remote villages like Dabal, Morjim, Sanguem, Canacona in the months to come.
“This type of competitions also help to take note of the pronounciations in Konknni and helping out those who have problems in pronounciation,” said secretary of DKA Mr. Jose Salvador Fernandes while commenting on the story reading competion here.
Miss Liba Pereira bagged the first prize for the story Guddarth Moronn. The second prize was bagged by Miss Princila Andrade for the story Sopnantlo Fuddar and third prize was secured by Anderson Andrade for the story Noxibantlem Chukona. Mrs.Priti Lotlikar and Mr. Jose Salvador Fernandes adjudged the story reading competition.
Fr. Domnic Alvares, sfx welcomed the gathering and Fr.Inacio Almeida sfx proposed the vote of thanks. Besides the winners, all the participants were also awarded the consolation prize certificates.
An exhibition-cum-sale of Konknni books in Romi script was also organized which got a good response.
